5.1 Buffy vs. Dracula Dracula has arrived to town and he has Buffy under a thrall as he makes Xander his next Mr Renfield. Giles is feeling like he isn't needed anymore and he is considering going back to England. 5.2 Real Me Dawn is driving Buffy crazy and the little sister is annoyed because everyone treats her like a child. Harmony has returned to Sunnydale and assembled a gang for herself, their mission is to kill the Slayer. She decides to kidnap Dawn to lure Buffy into her trap. 5.3 The Replacement A demon is after Buffy and Xander get accidentally shot by its weapon. The next morning he finds his exact copy living his life. Episode Stills 5.4 Out of My Mind Joyce collapses and is hospitalized. During a visit to the hospital it is discovered that Riley's health is severely compromised by the Initiative drugs and the only way to keep him alive is to have him visit a Initiative doctor, but he refuses. Spike finds out about the doctor and decides to get the chip out of his head. 5.5 No Place Like Home Buffy has a reason to believe that her mother's illness is caused by something mystical. While trying to find answers she finds out that Dawn isn't real, that she is really the Key and a powerful being that is called the Beast is after her. 5.6 Family Tara's family shows into town around her 20th birthday and the reason is a family secret that women in her family turn into demons when they turn 20. Tara wants to keep it as a secret from Willow and her friends. Episode Stills 5.7 Fool For Love Buffy gets seriously wounded during patrol and it causes her to look for answers to how the slayers before her lost their last fight. Because there is little information of the matter, she turns to Spike and bribes him into telling her how he killed two slayers. Episode Stills 5.8 Shadow Joyce is going into surgery to have the tumor removed and while worrying about her mother Buffy tries to protect Dawn. Glory who is hellbent on finding the key creates a demon to track it. Episode Stills 5.9 Listening to Fear Joyce comes out of surgery and the scoobies take on patrolling so Buffy can spend time with her family. A demon comes from space and without telling others Riley takes the former Initiative into the investigation. Meanwhile the demon is in the Summers house. 5.10 Into the Woods Buffy finds out about Riley's visits to the vampire whorehouse and he gives her the ultimatum that if she doesn't forgive him by the evening and ask him to stay, he will leave with the Initiative to a secret mission in South America. 5.11 Triangle Giles travels to England to meet the Council and leaves the shop to Anya and Willow. The two women are constantly fighting and a spell gone wrong brings Anya's former boyfriend, a troll named Olaf to Sunnydale. 5.12 Checkpoint The Council arrives to Sunnydale and put Buffy through series of tests to determine if she is worthy of being given the information they have. The Council interviews her friends and Spike and in the meanwhile Buffy gets a visit from Glory. 5.13 Blood Ties It is Buffy's 20th birthday. Dawn wants to know why the scoobies are acting so strangely around her and when she and Spike break into the Magic Box she finds out from Giles' diaries that she is the Key that Glory is looking for. A quick explanation of my rating system, I'm going to use one I had in school which means given grades are from 4 to 10. If an episode gets 4 or 4 – it is practically a failed test (an F to those who have that system) and has to be done again to get a grade, but if it is a 4 ½ it is just on the brink of passing. On the “better” grades (meaning from 5 upward) I'm gonna use an example I saw on wikipedia: 9 < 9 + < 9 ½ < 10 - < 10. A 10 + can be given when there is some extra effort done.
