![]() The roommate from hell. |
Written by: Marti Noxon Summary: Buffy's new roommate, Kathy is driving her crazy. Not only does she play Cher's Believe on repeat but she also likes to label all her foods, borrow clothes without asking, clip her toenails while in bed and join her to a patrol. Buffy is starting to have strange dreams and at the same time she is starting to act out of character. Giles and the scoobies think it has something to do with the demon she faced during a patrol.

Quotes:
Buffy: You run?
Willow: Okay, so that was the evil twin, right? 'Cause she was bordering on Cordelia-esque.
Buffy: So then Kathy's like, "It's share time." And I'm like, "Oh yeah? Share this!"
Oz: Just a... just a thought, Buffy, but do you think all this ranting is scaring away potential demons?
Buffy: What are you guys doing? This is... this is ridiculous.

I was annoyed a lot during this episode. Maybe it's because I didn't have a roommate from hell during college or just because I expected something better from a Buffy episode. Either way, one of the things that annoyed me was that the scoobies didn't believe Buffy despite their history together but it seems like a pattern when it comes to Marti Noxon, she has a tendency to cause trouble between them (Dead man's party becomes to mind, an episode that I'm still bitter about). Also Buffy and Parker meet, not a good sign. Just a thought, if Parker had a reputation of being a womanizer, of which Riley and his friends knew, why hadn't Oz or Willow heard about it? Also it appears that when Buffy starts to loose her soul bit by bit she starts to remind Cordelia. Makes you wonder the status of Queen C's soul, doesn't it. *Grin* But this episode wasn't all bad, I loved how much screen time Oz had and adored his interaction with Buffy as he took Willow's place on a patrol. Two catastrophes were set to motion, Buffy met Parker and Oz saw Veruca for the first time. Buffy's roommate, Kathy was also one of the annoying things in this episode and thankfully we won't be seeing her again. But yet another thing that bothered me was that Buffy was so easily beat by Kathy. Why? 'Cause the “lost girl on campus” can't be blamed again because she got her confidence back in The Freshman as she beat Sunday. Anyway, this had few funny scenes but that doesn't make up for everything in the between. This is an average episode even on season four standards.
