Jasmine... Gina Torres

Summary:

Coming Soon...

Quotes:

Lorne: Hey, preaching to the choir. I thought Our Lady of the Perpetual Sea Breeze was the real deal until the Divine Miss J walked right through that door and right into my ass—which is where my heart is...physiologically. I could show you an x-ray.

Lorne: You know what they say about people who need people...
Connor: They're the luckiest people in the world.
Lorne: You been sneaking peeks at my Streisand collection again, kiddo?
Connor: Just kinda popped out.

Angel: I don't know yet, but what I do know is I'm not leaving this hotel without my son.
Wesley: I'll get him. I've kidnapped him before.

My review for the episode:

First I have to say that I'm ever grateful that Angel has changed his shirt and isn't wearing that yellow striped monster. Okay, so he wasn't wearing it anymore at the end of last episode, but it's still a thing to be thankful of. Also have to say that this was another disappointing episode, but at least not as boring as the previous one. I'm not particularly religious person, but the jabs at religion and church are really getting old, I know Joss Whedon is a atheist, but does he really have advertise it through the show.

It's good to see some light shed to Connor's life in Quor Toth, up until this point I had the idea that Holtz was a “decent” father considering he was using Connor to get revenge, but now it is told by Connor that he taught him to track by tying him up and then just leaving him to find his “father”. That is really sick and I can't see why Connor holds him up in such a high pedestal, refusing to believe anything good about his real father (Angel). But glimpses of his mental health is shown as his reaction to Jasmine eating people is “cool”, not a good thing.

Jasmine is clearly evil, there's no doubt about that, but who said the PtB were good in the first place. But why does she concentrate on only LA? The 'why I love Jasmine' and 'let's kill Fred'-people were not funny, just waste of time, but Angel and Connor singing a duet of Mandy changed into Jasmine was mildly funny. It's good to see the two getting along, no matter how briefly. But apparently the “perfect” world hasn't cured Connor's daddy issues which raise their ugly head when Angel gets his free will back.

It's good to see Fred do something useful for a change, but the whole 'everyone is after me'-thing can't be good for her mental health considering that she's not the most sane person to begin with. The demon Fred shares the hiding place with being evil was predictable and why couldn't the prop people make the fingers less wiggly. But he did have a purpose in making Fred figure out the blood thing. And again I have a problem with how gung-ho the gang is to go kill Fred and later Angel, why couldn't there be even a little of love shining despite the brainwash. And I have to wonder if the things they say have something to do with how they really think like Gunn's comment of Fred rejecting love and about Angel that he's evil, not evil and he should just make up his mind. But it's good to see Angel finally brooding once he gets his free will back, but what evil have I done for Fred to start talking about champions?! And what was the point of Fred's undercover kiss with Angel? Other than WB/ME to have Angel locking lips with every female character on the show. Cause the people were under Jasmine's influence and through them she could see Angel and Fred, so it was just pointless. Thankfully the lighting is crappy that you can barely see them, which in general is annoying, couldn't they even buy some flashlights so a viewer could see what's going on.

And despite Crappy being in a coma I still have to watch her on my tv screen and everyone still worships her. But isn't it a fire hazard to leave candles burning unattended? Again Angel is dumbed down as he stumbles through the window, where has his grace gone or does it take a leave of absence like his brain when SaintCrappy is near? The kiss on the forehead before cutting her doesn't have a romantic feel to it, it's just a straw for the C/Aers. But some real love is shown when Angel refuses to leave Connor behind.

I know Mutant enemy has a short memory especially when it comes to Ats, but now they can't even remember the last two episodes they wrote. To both Fred and Angel it took seeing Jasmine after mixing the blood to see her true face and be free of her manipulation, but to Lorne, Wesley and Gunn it was enough to just mix the blood and then be told about it. Argh! But I have to say that Gunn's reaction to the truth brought to mind Xander's in Superstar. Not a complete waste of time episode, but not particularly good one either.
